Modern Dentures are Comfortable Teeth Replacements

As dentistry has progressed significantly over the years, people now have more comfortable options when it comes to replacing missing teeth.

As unfortunate as it is, people lose their teeth quite often. Sometimes this is because of old age or because the teeth begin to decay as time goes by. However, those with no teeth, need not feel hopeless as dentures are now more modern than ever.

In this article, we will go over how modern dentures are becoming more and more comfortable as time progresses. Today, dentures aren't just a replacement for teeth, they are comfortable too. Comfort can go a long way, especially when it comes to people who don’t have any natural teeth remaining. Read more below!

Modern dentures

Dentures are meant to provide someone with a way to get back to chewing naturally and smiling confidently. However, this has been proven to be difficult through the use of them because dentures have typically been acrylic-based. Dental appliances that are acrylic-based have been said to be unnatural. But, thanks to technology, dentures are now becoming more modernized - thus allowing for a more comfortable fit.

Soft (flexible) dentures

Soft dentures are typically only used for partial dentures which are commonly used when a person still has a few teeth remaining. Since the dental industry has made significant progressions, a person can now receive dentures that are soft to the touch. They are made of thermoplastic materials that are similar to nylon, allowing for a much more flexible and natural feel.

Implant-supported dentures

Dentures that are supported by implants tend to provide someone with a more natural feeling denture. The dentures are attached and supported by implants that are placed within the jawbone. Instead of regular dentures that are removable, these are securely held in place by implants that are within the jaw. The implants will naturally bond with the jaw so the result is actually more natural than traditional dentures.

Ensuring comfort

When a person visits their dentist for dentures, it is the dentist’s job to make sure that the person’s dentures fit securely and comfortably. A lot of people leave their dentist’s office thinking that their dentures are just naturally uncomfortable but that is far from the truth. Dentures of all types are supposed to be comfortable and not cause any pain.

Dentures are supposed to provide someone with a way to eat naturally again and smile without being self-conscious. As dentistry has progressed quite well, modern dentures should only provide a comfortable fit. If a person experiences any pain or discomfort, it’s important that they visit their dentist in order to have them adjusted.
